Lent officially starts on Tuesday the 5th March, so there are many Carnival Parades for you to enjoy this weekend. Add to this are an abundance of Tapas Routes and Menu Weeks, as well as a selection of Guided Routes and Specialist Fairs.

Costa Blanca South

The final Carnival Parade takes place in Torrevieja on Saturday evening, and there are smaller Parades in Guardamar del Segura, Catral and Los Montesinos during the weekend. On Saturday night the Carnival Party will start at 22:00 in Alicante city, and the Carnival Parade will start at 20:00 in the city of Elche. The Spoon Gastronomy Menus continue in Rojales, and it is the last weekend of the Cuina Menus in Pinoso. The Tapeix Route continues in Santa Pola with 16 establishments offering a specially prepared fish based Tapas for 2€. The 10th Tapas route continues in Crevillent, where 17 establishments are offering a tapa for 1,50€ plus a beer or wine for 1,20€. It is the middle weekend of the 12th Tapas and 7th Gin Tonic Route in Albatera. There are Free Guided Walks in both Rojales and Bigastro, and the monthly Artisan Market will take place the Cuevas del Rodeo in Rojales on Sunday morning.

Costa Calida

It is the final weekend of the 11th Tapas and Cocktail Route in Cehegin, whilst the 6th Carnival Tapas Route continues in Santiago de la Ribera, where 18 local establishments will be offering a tapas and drink or cocktail until the 10th March. The Carnival begins in Aguilas with parades on Sunday, Tuesday and next Saturday, it is the biggest in the area and has been declared as being of International Tourist Interest. The Grand Carnival Parade in Cartagena on Saturday evening is well worth enjoying, and there are smaller parades in San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcazares on Sunday. There is a Discount Shopping Fair in Torre Pacheco during the weekend, and the programme of Free Guided Visits continues throughout the Region of Murcia.

Costa Blanca North

There are Carnival Parades in Denia, Moraira and Benidorm this weekend. Jalon will host its monthly Ecological Market on Saturday morning, and then the 8th traditional Vall de Pop Market on Sunday morning. The month long Guiame Tapas Route continues in Denia, where bars will be offering a Tapa and Drink for 3€ until the 14th March, and the Calent Menus finish in Altea on Sunday. The Cuina Marinera Menus start on Friday in Villajoyosa, and the 8th Soup and Stew Gastronomy Week starts on Saturday in Benidorm.
